The Wavetek 1801A has a spec: Residual FM - Less than 15 kHz So, if I am attempting to tune a narrow band IF amplifier with a bandwidth of 200 Hertz near 4 MHz is it a mistake to use this sweep oscillator? On face value I believe that it is, but perhaps this spec is more stringent than it needs to be. Still, there are varactor diodes doing the tuning so there is a price to pay. When you sweep 500 MHz perhaps this is the price, which leads me to wonder if anyone has ever modified these to a lower frequency range. - Tim
