Board members may be interested in a file which I found during research on this matter. It shows a hybrid amplifier produced for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and is listed in the files section as 78A.pdf

This circuit has the advantage of wide bandwidth from 400 KHz to 400 MHz whilst maintaining a good 50 ohm match, all done without transformers.
