The tekscopes Yahoo group was recently converted to the new User
Interface.

This interface seems to be an attempt to mimic the Facebook interface.
The interface is missing many features/functions which allow searching,
removal of spam messages and more. A more exhaustive list can be found
among the postings at: http://suggestions.yahoo.com/?prop=groups
and http://www.ygroupsblog.com/

I believe that the lists that were sent this message have NOT been
converted to the new UI.

Yahoo is incrementally converting groups to the new format. I suggest
that you research the alleged problems and take appropriate actions.

In Yahoo's drive to be like Facebook, I believe that the converted
archives will be in danger of being lost or being unusable. Converted
groups have seen missing messages, lost message numbers and mangled
threads.

I suggest that a capture your current archive would be a prudent thing
along with a copy of your current membership.

Characteristics of that capture might include:

1. Retention of titles and content

2. Message numbers and thread relationships are maintained

3. The resulting archive be accessible at the message level and thread
level

The above may be useful in housing your archive in a non-Yahoo site.

Joe:

Thanks for the alert on this. Yeah everyone wants to be like facebook nowadays. Frankly it doesn't matter to me what my 850+ closest friends are wearing this morning or where they will be eating this evening, etc.

I'll take a look at the archives and see if there is any way to (easily) pull all of the content down for safe keeping.

If the transition to a new interface is too much to bear, there are other alternatives to running this on yahoo. Obviously, any transiti

COSMAC ELF (RCA1802 cpu)

Group has been converted for the main page and besides being
horrid color it' much harder to navigate, slower and makes
threading harder to follow. I'm seriously considering if I'll
dump that one as a result of the format change. Right now I'm
trying to figure out if there is a way to revert it.

It's just bad.

I would suggest one moderator of the group contact Helmut Sennewald in
LTspice group. He caches all messages regularly and surely can explain
the easiest way for it.
