I've been playing with a 40M three stage transmitter and have used a simple LC
filter to match 2 stages. It worked well but I haven't see this technique used
except in EMRFD fig 1.34. High pass or low pass doesn't seem to make any
difference because they're so broad, but both worked well at impedance matching.
At least my 2N2222 driver is running just warm, but not hot, key down at 300mw
or so.

They seem so easy to use, am I missing something since they don't seem to be
popular? Less efficient compared to a transformer? Poorer isolation? What's
not to like about them?

Thanx for any info, appreciate it..

Hi Terry,

It's a great technique with many advantages, and has been standard practice for single-band and moderately broadband amplifiers for many decades.

Thanx Rick, appreciate the note.

I just looked at your 6 and 2M CW sources and see that you used it there.

Thanx again.
