Hello,

May name is Alexandre and my call is PY4EU. I'm a homebrewer and today a
was mount a QRP wattmeter published in QST magazine (febuary/1990). This
circuit uses three toroids FT37-77 in a direcional coupler and one unit of
toroid was broken. Can anybody help me? in Brazil don't have this toroid in
electronic shops.

Alexandre Veiga - PY4EU

Hi Alexandre,

If it not broken into many pieces you can glue it back together wasnd it should still be useable..

    Alexandre,

Are you sure you're using the correct part number? The Feb. 1990
article shows three FT37-72 toroids and the wording "do not substitute".

Yeah, Don--I built that meter several years back and the 72 cores were out of production.  The 77 cores seemed to be the best replacement choice at the time.

    Don,

This article was published in many maganizes including in Brazil, it's work
with FT37-72 and FT 37-77 because this core permeability is equal (2000).
Renato, PY2RLM mount a wattmeter using -77 core and it's work fine.
