Good find.
It reads well.
I read about early op-amps as well but didn't really understand the varactor input system.
It good to see that bright people can spend years developing fairly simple circuits, because I do quite a lot of struggling to get results here.

Both that book and the subsequent book edited by Jim Williams ("The Art of Analog Circuit Design") may be downloaded in PDF form from the web. The latter is as good as the former. Just do a search of the title with the added keywords "Williams" and "PDF".

Yeah Dave, I was aware of the first book mentioned  but not the second, aI have yet to get very far through the first book, in that first book is Jim Williams version of the HP 200 series audio oscillator, his version is better than the HP version using modern components.

That would be a good project to play around with! The one optoisolator he used may be difficult to locate, everything else should be easy to come by. Yes there is much over my head.

Our temperature is supposed to fall over night into the twenties, very windy today but sunny and clear.

Got some 100.000 mhz crystals on order, suppose to be different manufacturers so should be good for experimenting. Should hagve them middle of next week.
Cheers Dave
